Doctrine

The Trinity and Infallibility of the Bible

God is your creator:
Genesis 1:1: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

There is one true God:
Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!”

Isaiah 43:10: “You are My witnesses, says the Lord, … I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me.”

God in three persons:
Matthew 28:19: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit …”

Luke 3:22: And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

The Infallibility of the Bible:
Matthew 5:18: “For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”

Matthew 4:4 “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Salvation

Why do we need to be saved?
Sin entered the world through Adam and Eve.

Sin leads to death and for sin to be covered/forgiven something had to die in place of the one who sinned. (Remember Adam & Eve's animal skin clothes)

Jesus was the first born, spotless, perfect Lamb of God that was slain for the forgiveness of man. He was the final sacrifice for mankind.

Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

To be born again, one must accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and accept His sacrifice for our salvation. Jesus is the only way to heaven.

John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Romans 10:13: “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

John 3:3: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior means you will obey His commands and live according to His Word.

Baptism In The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is God
(See scriptures in the Doctrine of the Trinity)

The infilling of the Holy Spirit is a gift. And when a person accepts Jesus as their Savior and Lord, they are filled with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Jesus Himself received the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and rested upon Him.

You cannot be a believer without the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:9: “You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.”

Jesus wanted His Disciples (and us) to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
John 20:21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

The Baptism in The Holy Spirit is a separate and subsequent experience to the filling of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 1:5: Jesus said; “for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

The Disciples were part of the 120 that received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit - even after Jesus had breathed on them to receive the filling of the Holy Spirit. And the evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the sign of speaking in tongues.

Acts 2:1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

1 Corinthians 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.

Why be Baptised in the Holy Spirit?
Because He gives you power to continue the work of Jesus on the earth: to witness to people ... to serve people ... to pray for people.
Acts 1:8 Jesus said “…you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses…”

DIVINE HEALING

Why is there sickness in the world?
Where did it come from?

Sickness is the RESULT and CONSEQUENCE of the ORIGINAL SIN of Adam & Eve.

The result was:
PHYSICAL sickness and PHYSICAL death.
SPIRITUAL sickness and SPIRITUAL death.

You will notice that physical and spiritual sickness and healing are often mentioned together in scripture. Although all sickness is not the result of a person's individual sin.

John 9:1 "Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.”

Divine healing for both; physical and spiritual is an integral part of the gospel.

Mark 2:10 “But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralytic, 11 “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 12 Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”

Luke 19:10 “… the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Mark 2:17 “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Divine healing is provided in the atonement.

1st Peter 2:24 [Jesus] bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. (Made whole)

Matthew 8:17 He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases…

God sometimes uses doctors and medicine for healing. Luke was a doctor.

Divine healing will be fully realized when Jesus returns or when a person enters heaven!

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

Everyone is familiar with the FIRST coming of Jesus and his 33 years on the earth.

Jesus Himself said that He would come back again for a second time.

John 14:2 “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

Luke 12:37 “Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching.”

Mark 13:32 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.”

Watch and Pray Every Day!

HOW Jesus will come back:
Acts 1:11 “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

First: Don’t be afraid!
Second: Rejoice!
Third: Watch and Pray!

Are you ready for Jesus' return?

PRAYER

Q: WHAT is prayer?
A: Talking with God

Q: WHY should we pray?
A: God instructs us to pray to Him.

2nd Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Matthew 5:43 Jesus said, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 26:41 Jesus instructs us, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Q: WHO do we pray to?
A: God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
You can pray to any of the three because They are One!

Q: HOW should we pray?
A: “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” Matthew 6:5

Verse 7: “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.”

John 14:13 “…whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

Q: HOW does God speak to YOU?
A: Through His Word

Timothy 3:16 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Other ways God speaks to us:
His still, small voice
His Spirit
Prayer
The logos Word of God (Bible)
The rhema word of God (to your spirit)
A sense of peace
Open and closed doors
Through frustration
Through dreams
Through trials & difficulties
Preachers & Teachers
Other people
Trusted Advisors
Circumstances
Nature and God’s Creation
Thoughts that line up with His patterns

God speaks through whatever or whomever he chooses … but never in disagreement with His Word!

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
John 10:27

PRAYER IS A VITAL PART OF OUR EVERYDAY LIVES!

WITNESSING

Mark 16:15: And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”

Why Jesus came to the earth:

Luke 19:10: “… the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

(John 6:38, John 12:46, John 15:22, John 18:37, 1 John 3:8, John 6:51, Mark 10:45, Mark 2:17, Matthew 10:34, Luke 4:18)

Who YOU are as a Christian and what YOU are supposed to do while you’re here on the earth:

You carry the Spirit of Christ within you, and you are to CONTINUE His work!

Jesus said in John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

We are branches in the vine – and we’re SUPPOSED to bear fruit … and THAT SHOULD HAPPEN NATURALLY!!

HOW TO WITNESS …

1. By your behavior; how you act and talk

2. Pray for that person’s salvation

3. Share your personal experience with them

4. Remember; it is the Holy Spirit doing the work not you

5. Pray with the person while you’re together

6. Show them scripture: John 14:6

7. Learn to communicate Bible Truth effectively

8. Lead them in a simple salvation prayer: “Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I am choosing to accept you as my Savior and Lord for the rest of my life!”

9. Invite them to come to church with you!!

10. Be there for them and continue to help and encourage them (Disciple!)

Witnessing is not an option - it is a command!

Witness to at least one person this week.

THE CHURCH

1 John 3:1: “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!”

We are God’s Mini-Me’s!! We are THE FAMILY OF GOD!

The word that is translated “CHURCH” in the original scriptures is Ekklesia (or ecclesia). “A called-out assembly or congregation.”

The CHURCH has been around since the beginning of creation! And we were always meant to be PART OF THE CHURCH!

The Imago Dei (image of God) is the Church: God’s FAMILY

So, the Church (God’s family) is a reflection of God's image to the world. When someone sees the Church … they should see God! We are the Body of Christ!

The early church thinking was all about community / the Body / the collective.

We really must resist the isolating influence of today’s society; hiding behind screens!

Hebrews 10:25 Don’t forsake “… the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Why do YOU come to church?
That’s a question you really need to ask yourself.
